Funeral services will be held for Catherine Boddie, age 95, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, LA at 10:00AM on Saturday, April 29th, 2023. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bryceland, LA. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, LA on Friday, April 28th, 2023 from 5:00PM-8:00PM.

Catherine "Grannie" Mathews Boddie was born July 31, 1927, in New Verda, LA and passed away Monday, April 24, 2023, at her home in Gibsland, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas C. Mathews and Weaver Hale Mathews; her husband: William "Pugh" Barnette Boddie; her sisters, Omera Beaton, Eliza Mathews, Etha Belle LeJeune, Laura McMillan and Lillie Hopkins; her brothers, Archie Mathews, Albert Mathews, Marvin Mathews, and Loren Mathews.

She moved to Bienville, LA in 1944 where she began her postal service career. After years of dedicated service for Bienville and Arcadia, she became the Post Mistress for the Gibsland Post Office where she worked for the remainder of her 45 years for the USPS. After retirement from the postal service, she became a Certified Nurse's Assistant. She worked at the Gibsland Town Hall, and she was a member of Eastern Star.

Throughout her life, Grannie selflessly donated her time and resources to multiple organizations in her community such as Scrappy Crafters at Anderson Chapel CME, the Community Coordinating Council Inc, and the Gibsland Coleman Booster Club, where she was often referred to as the "Candy Lady."

When she saw a need, she jumped to the rescue. She spoke up with what was right without hesitation. She distributed senior commodities through the Council on Aging, was a member of the Revival 2000 Committee, which was responsible for getting a library for Gibsland, and served on the Building Committee for the Gibsland Coleman Track Facility. Grannie was a part of the Gibsland Homemaker's Club, as well as volunteered for several years at the Authentic Bonnie & Clyde Museum, where she also enjoyed the yearly Bonnie & Clyde festival which brought numerous visitors from all over the United States. She enjoyed visiting with residents at the Willow Ridge Nursing Home where she also painted their nails weekly and loved to travel, especially with her retired Postmasters group. She was a Sunday school teacher and treasurer at Gibsland United Methodist Church. Grannie read her bible every day and said her nightly prayers on her knees. She was a "Prayer Warrior."

Of all the positive things Granny was a part of, the most important thing was for her to be there for her family.

She is survived by her children: Wesley Boddie and wife Vickie of Bienville, LA, Roy Boddie and wife Teresia of Weston, LA, and Jean Cowan of Gibsland, LA; grandchildren: Heather Boddie, Wyatt Cowan and wife Josie, Jake Cowan and wife Becky, Eli Boddie, Kevin Kelley, and Audi Henderson; great grandchildren: Austin Pike, Brayden Cowan, Ryley Cowan, Victoria Cowan, Owen, and Liam, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Pallbearers will be, Ben Dance, Wyatt Cowan, Jake Cowan, Brayden Cowan, Ryley Cowan, Eli Boddie, Austin Pike, and Kevin Robinson.

The family would like to thank Allegiance Hospice Care of Ruston, for their care of Mrs. Catherine.
