William S. Root
ATHENS - William S. Root, 70, 89 Sunnyside Dr., died early today in St. Joseph Hospital in Parkersburg. He had been in ill health for several months.
He was born at Cutler, the son of the late Frank and Ida Root. He had lived in Athens for the past 25 years and was employed by the Columbia Gas Co. for 46 years. He was retired on disability in 1960. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Athens.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; and two brothers, Lansing Root of Detroit and Esmond Root of Stewart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death y two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Hughes Funeral Home by the Rev. Joe B. Maffett. Burial will be in Mount Liberty Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home anytime after Saturday noon.
