Mary Rose was born December 1, 1926 in Paden City, W.Va., the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Anna Belle Hammel Hawkins.
She was a 1944 graduate of Magnolia High School, a 40 year member of St. John's United Methodist Church choir, United Methodist Women's Group, retired bookkeeper for Wells Eakin Company, homemaker and a member of New Martinsville United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Snell; two sisters, Geraldine Herrick-Finnegan and Deloris Newman; brother, Edward Hawkins.
Surviving are son, Ronald Snell and his wife Barbara of New Martinsville, W.Va.; daughter, Tamara Nichols and her husband Bob of Hannibal, Ohio; granddaughter, Allison Thornton and her husband John of Cincinnati, Ohio; two great grandsons, Jalen and Ty Thornton; sister-in-law, Floy Hawkins of New Martinsville and several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Jarvis Funeral Home, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2009. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville, W.Va.
