Obituary published in The Loveland Reporter Herald, Loveland, Colorado on November 27, 1950. Services for Staff SGT. Francis W. "Skeet" Pulliam, who was killed over Markobel, Germany, October 14, 1943, will be held Thursday, [November 30, 1950,] at 1 p.m. at the Hammond Drawing room, followed by interment in the Berthoud cemetery, with military honors by the Berthoud veterans. The Rev. A.E. Plummer, of the Loveland Methodist church, will officiate. The body of Sgt. Pulliam will arrive from New York, Wednesday, with military escort.

The deceased was a gunner in the air corps, during World War II, and a citation, the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf cluster. He was born in Loveland, and lived here all his life. He is the son of Elmer Pulliam Oroville, California, and Mrs. Hattie Pulliam of Rosedale, Colorado. In addition to his parents, SGT. Pulliam is survived by an uncle, Ray Pulliam, of Loveland, and other relatives. (Thank you to the Loveland Public Library, Loveland, Colorado.)

Francis W. Pulliam, born in 1914 in Colorado [exact location confirmed via his WWII draft registration card] is listed on the 1930 census with his mother Hattie M. in Briggsdale, Weld County, Colorado. His mother is listed as a housekeeper in the home of a farmer in Weld County.

Francis was a resident of Plumas County, California when he enlisted at Sacramento on August 13, 1942 "for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law". He had completed four years of high school, was employed as a cook and separated, without dependents. He was 5'7" and weighed 147 lbs.
