Nelson was a native of Copiah County. He was a long time member of Rockport Hunting Club where his love for hunting and fishing were shared by many. Nelson was a loving husband, devoted father, caring brother and a loyal friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Betty Carr; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and David Matthews of Crystal Springs; sisters, Martha Cowan and Ann Smith both of Crystal Springs; his best friend and brother, Alton "Jabo" Carr of Georgetown; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the CCU Unit at St. Dominic's Hospital for their loving care.
