Jessie Jackson "J.J. or Jack" Smith was born on May 16, 1901 in Marshall County, Alabama to Jacob Breckinridge Smith and Josephine Ann Brooks Smith (first wife of Jacob B. Smith). He was married to Ruth [unknown maiden name] Smith, and they had two young children at the time of his death. He was a farmer. He died on October 9, 1924; and according to the death certificate, he died of Acute Nephritis. According to my mother, J.J. may have had some kind of premonition of his death. His father set aside a bit of land on his property to establish a family cemetery. When J.J. learned of this, he remarked that he would be the first one to be buried in it. It turned out to be true.
