In 1856 she had maried Jean Arnaud Corneille Gerlach (1825-1886), master of the new frigate - clipper ship "Cadsandria". In 1857 she accompanied him on the first trip of this vessel, to Java and Japan. It had to be also the last journey. Near the harbour of Nagasaki, on August 9th, 1858, it was caught in a storm. One sailor drowned when he tried to save the captain's wife, an expectant mother. The rest of the crew survived the disaster, including Anna Maria. However, a month later she died from the effects.

Her husband sold the wrecked ship and settled in Nagasaki, where he became agent of a shipping company in Batavia (now Djakarta, on Java), the firm of Dummler & Co.
