Robert Smith Loughridge, age 85 of Dalton, departed this life on Tuesday, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert G. and Carla Loughridge, a sister, Frances Loughridge and a brother, Wilburn Loughridge.

He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and former member of Carolyn Baptist serving 48 years as deacon, teacher and R.A. leader. He retired after 45 years at L.A. Lee and Dalton Daily Citizen and most recently was employed by Walnut Square Mall.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Ridley Loughridge of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Ricky Brown of Dalton.

Sister and brother-in-law, Vernice and Bob Fuller of Acworth; sister-in-law and nephew, Eva Loughridge and Bruce Loughridge of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Joan Ridley of Dalton, Paul and Lois Ridley of Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Mozelle Jennings and Betty Walls, both of Dalton.

The funeral was held on Friday at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev.Darey Kittle and the Rev. Walter Hare officiating.

Julian Peeples Funeral Home, Pleasant Grove Chapel of Dalton was in charge of the arrangements.
