James Newark arrived in Bastard Township in 1858 and married Adeline Elizabeth Ludbrook 4 Jan 1860. Adeline was the daughter of William and Anne Ludbrook who were married in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England (very close to where James Newark lived on a farm) in 1831. The Ludbrooks arrived in Canada about 1832 where William was a cooper by trade. They had seven children, six of whom were born in Canada.

Mrs. Newark Dies.
Mrs. Adeline Newark, aged 81 years, mother of Dr. W. E. Newark, died Friday night at the Newark hospital. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Ives & Sylvester chapel. Rev. Ernest M. Wheeler officiated. Burial at Maple Hill cemetery.
