Harold E. Skipper, 75, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Waxahachie, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009, at his residence.

He was born in Ellis County, Texas on May 8, 1933 to Chester and Connie Hassell Skipper. He was a member of the Southlake Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Harold graduated from Itasca High School in 1952, served in the U.S. Army and was employed by Flexsteel and Kraylor. He was a member of the United Upholsters Union. Everybody remembers "Skippers" Exxon Station located at Main and Elm in Waxahachie where he managed for 17 years. He then moved to Skippers Diamond Shamrock located just off I35-E. He was an avid Texas Longhorn fan.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donita Skipper.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Skipper of Garland; son, Terry Skipper and wife, Lanette of Waxahachie, grandsons, Justin and Brandon Skipper; children by marriage, Rhonda Huls and husband Danny of Austin, Kim Thomas and husband Tim of Greenville and Jay Harrison and wife Marilyn of Texarkana; grandchildren by marriage, Chelsea, Alaina, Davis, Jacob, Shanna, Brianna and Hunter; sisters, Oma Shaw of Waxahachie and Wanda Maxwell of Dallas; brother, Miles Skipper of Waxahachie; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Avery Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Jones and Rev. Roddy Jackson officiating. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Internment will be in Savannah Cemetery.
