Helen L. Mitchell of Springville died Monday, December 22, 1997, in Bedford. She was the daughter of Ruben Sylvester and Talitha (Shanks) Delaney. She married Fredrick Russell Mitchell in October, 1940, and he died in 1956. Surviving are one daughter, Linda Mitchell of Bloomington; one sister, Christina Fuerst of Hammond; three grandchildren: Debra Stevens, Nick Herthel, and Christopher Herthel, all of Bedford; three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, and five brothers. She worked at the Springville Post Office from the late 1940's until she retired in 1985. She was appointed postmistress in 1969. Services for Helen Mitchell will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 24th, at The Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Carder officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
