James Banks, 88, of 3010 Stewart Ave. died today in McKeesport Hospital. He retired in 1954 as a turn foreman at the National plant of U. S. Steel Corp., and was a member of the National Works Management Club. Born in Hopewell on Feb. 11, 1889, he was the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Reed Banks.
Husband of the late Nellie Turley Banks, he is survived by sons, James Banks of Pittsburgh, Edward Glenn of Inglewood, Calif., and Ronald Banks of McKeesport; daughter Geraldine Gallagher of Bellevue, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Friends received in the E. C. Finney Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Service will be conducted there a 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Kenneth Gleason. Interment will be in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery.
