Alice A. Fisher passed away January 26, 2009 following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Alice Mikulich was born October 7, 1928 at home, in Traunik, Michigan to Louis Mikulich and Frances (Bartol) Mikulich and grew up in a small town in her beloved Upper Peninsula, which she left to attend Marygrove College and then the University of Michigan.

Alice Mikulich married Dr. J. David Ausum, and together, they had five children.

After that marriage ended, Alice Ausum, on January 15, 1983, married Robert George Fisher who preceded her in death on July 12, 2008.

Alice adored singing and was a past member of the U of M Choral Union, had numerous leads in Community Theater, especially enjoying Gilbert and Sullivan productions, and was her church soloist for three decades. She was extremely patriotic and was proud to sing the National Anthem at Olympia, prior to Detroit Red Wing games.

In addition, Alice Fisher was a fine athlete, an A level tennis player who competed in the Michigan and National Senior Olympics. She loved to play golf and had a hole in one, and began water-color painting in retirement.

In spite of losing all of these skills to Parkinson's disease, she remained upbeat, positive and an inspiration to everyone she met. She leaves behind many wonderful friends.

Mrs. Fisher was survived by

her children:
Dr. Antonia Ausum (Dr. Dal Fear), of Ann Arbor, MI;
James D. Ausum, of Westland, MI;
Daniel F. Ausum, of Fenton, MI;
Stephen L. Ausum, of Davisburg, MI and
Julianne A. Fenhagen (James C.) of Montclair, NJ.

her former husband and father of her children, Dr. J. David Ausum (Patricia) of Tryon, NC.

her four beloved grandchildren: Captain Alexis M. Bailey (Justin), Gregory Fear, Alena Fear and Aaron Fenhagen.

her sisters: Ethel Hebbard and Patricia Finnegan

her brothers: John R. (Grace) Mikulich and Robert F. (Frances) Mikulich.

her seven step-children: Stephen Fisher (Ann) of Shanghai, China; Mariana Kelley (Bill) of Coral Springs, FL; Tess Horak (Lou) of Downers Grove, IL and Dr. Brian R. Fisher (Vera): John Fisher (Kathy); Gretchen Fisher-Gladieux and Kathleen Hoagg (Douglas) all of Traverse City, MI.

There were 17 Fisher grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Mrs. Fisher was predeceased by her parents, brothers Louis Mikulich and William Mitchell, and sisters Mary M. Dickinson and Gladys M. Floria.

Mrs. Fisher was survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters and brothers-in-law.

Alice was an amazing, loving and caring mother and we will miss her insight, humor and enthusiasm for life.
