"Haz" Hazel Naomi Austen Supple, a resident and native of Plaquemine, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 16, 2009, ten days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was the daughter of the late Una Cointment and William Austen and wife of the late Joseph Richard Supple. She is survived by her five daughters and sons-in-law; Mickey and C. C. Laborde, Carol Ann and Lynn Hunt, Mary Catherine and Jimmy Daigre, Sue Supple and Richard Kuchman, and Barbara and Lenny Drury; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, her "Baby" sister Winnie Gallagher and her beloved nieces Terry Gallagher and Martha Blanchard. Hazel made friends readily and will be missed by her many relatives, neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her grandson Robert Hunt, 7 brothers and 2 sisters. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine where services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 19, 2009. Her eight grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her sons-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers.
