Jean C. Gunn, age 79, of Pace, FL, passed away Wednesday August 8, 2012 at her residence. She was born May 1, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to the late James Connon and Mary Douglas Connon.
Jean was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and earning the Good Conduct Medal. She tested rebreathers for the Navy. She was the first single woman to finance her own home in Escambia County history. She was a member of Pace United Methodist Church, she loved painting, was a world traveler and enjoyed coffee with the "Coffee Ladies" each day after exercise. One of her greatest adventures and most secret from her family was her sky diving trip she took at the age of 73 to prove she could. Most of all, she loved her God and her family and friends, all who knew her will miss her dearly.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Gunn, Sr.; a brother, Douglas Connon and a grandson, John Hamblin.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Kadra of Monks Corner, SC and Tom (Michele) Gunn of Pace, FL; two daughters, Kathleen (Herb) Cotton of Pace, FL and Maureen Kadra of Milton, FL; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and a brother, Ron Connon of Clarkston, Michigan.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday August 11, 2012 at 11 AM at the Chapel of National Cremation & Burial Society. Interment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 AM until the service hour. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nationalcremation.com
