Mrs. Agnes LaVerne Abrams, 80 of 1007 Illinois, Walkerton, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in LaPorte Hospital after an extended illness. Born on Sept. 19, 1898, in St. Joseph County, she was a lifelong resident of the Walkerton area. She married Ralph Sheaks, who died on Oct. 20, 1952. She then married Ira Abrams, who died on Feb. 20, 1962. Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Heil, Mrs. Dollie Tener, Mrs. June Kemp and Mrs. Genevieve Adams, all of Walkerton, Mrs. Cleota Gray, Mrs. Lucille Ybarra and Mrs. Patricia Murphy, all of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Margaret Burris of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Lloyd Sheaks of Meadow, Tex., and Marvin Sheaks of North Liberty; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and three brothers, Floyd, Glen and Theodore Hostetler, all of Walkerton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton. Rev. Edwin Shelly, pastor of the Walkerton Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until services Tuesday in the funeral home. Mrs. Abrams was a member of the First Christian Church, North Liberty.
