Howard D. "Punk" Reed, 87, of Columbia died Nov. 1, 2006, at Columbia Health Care.
Services, conducted by the Rev. Tracy Cook, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Nilson Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.
Howard was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Boone County, the son of Dowen Corbett Reed and Lurlie White Reed.
He married Lucille Level on Dec. 11, 1938, in Boone County.
He retired from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1981 after 33 years. He was a mechanic and bus driver who drove the Sturgeon, Centralia and Moberly route in the '70s and '80s when the university transported workers back and forth to University Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Fieldon E. Reed of Columbia; three daughters, Gloria Ewens of Harrisburg, Sharon and husband Paul Bosch of Columbia and Ruth Ann Shaon of Columbia; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Lucille Reed, in 2001; son Bobby Dell Reed in 2006; daughter Anna May Reed in infancy; two brothers, Clay and Raymond Reed; and two sisters, Mae Fern Cathy and Doris Stone.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association of Mid-Missouri, 1121 Business Loop 70 E., Columbia, Mo., 65201.
