Ray was born to Aarne and Kerttu Rinne on September 14, 1929 in Newark, NJ. His parents immigrated from Finland. He attended school in Verona, NJ where he excelled in both studies and sports. Upon graduating he attended the University of Pennsylvania on a full scholarship as a member of the ROTC, earning his Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering.
While in college Ray met Joan Connor in Philadelphia, PA. they married in 1953 and were happily married until Joan's passing in 1998.
During his 30 year career at IBM he continued his education by earning a Masters Degree in Engineering. Upon his retirement he accepted a position at DuPont to head up their Electronics Division requiring him to relocated to Raleigh, NC.
In 1999 Ray became reacquainted with long time family friend Ruth Bramley. They fell in love and were married in 2000. Ray and Ruth had a wonderful marriage as they explored the world and spent time with their friends.
Ray is survived by his wife, Ruth and his six children, Glenn, Karen, Stephen, Bruce, Patrick, Michael; his 14 grandchildren and stepsons, Kenneth and David Stenger.
