Mary R. Pompa, 90, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, died Mon., Feb. 2, 2009 at Altoona Hospital. She was born in Altoona to Vincenzo & Carmella Grassi. She married Albert M. Pompa and he died Jan. 21, 2005. Survived by daughters: JoAnn 'JoJo' Nardelli and husband, Michael, of Newry, and Abbei 'B.T.' Brawley of Altoona; son, Joseph Pompa and wife, Rita, of Hollidaysburg; grandchildren: Traci Brawley, Thadd Brawley and wife, LaShawn, and Olivia Pompa; gr. grandchildren: Tracey, Brandon, DeVaughn, Dominic, Erica and Michael; sisters: Lena Grassi and Etta Pastore, both of Altoona; and extended family. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, where she helped organize the St. Jude Novena. Mary had worked at Puritan Sportswear and was a licensed beautician. She was a graduate of Altoona High School. Mary enjoyed music, playing the organ and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Anthony Society, Italian Sons & Daughters of America and the A&J Iaia American Legion Post, Ladies Auxiliary. Santella Funeral Home, Altoona.
