ELIZABETH "BETTY" DAUBER, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away peacefully, February 5, 2009 at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield, following a six year battle with Alzheimer's and other health issues.
Born on December 18, 1926 in Cambridge, Kansas, she was the daughter of John and Ellen Asbury. She was raised and educated in Cambridge and later lived in the Winfield area.

She was united in marriage to Don Dauber. The couple later divorced and Betty was determined to raise 3 children. She was employed at several restaurants and the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. Betty retired from Plessey-Welsco in Wellington.

She loved to fish with best friends, Audrey Nettrouer and Peggy Lynch. Betty also loved raising rabbits, Shetland ponies with longtime companion, Clarence Ketterman. She enjoyed traveling, ceramic elephants, collecting AVON and other knickknacks, sewing and playing cards.

Betty always put others first with kindness and love, not to be mistaken by a voice of what was right or wrong. "Mom, Sis, Aunt Betty & Grandma, may you rest in peace."

Her family includes: Her son: Ron Dauber and wife Kathy of Winfield, KS; Her daughter: Judy Edgington and husband Allen of Theodosia, MO; Her brother: John "J.B." Asbury of Winfield, KS; Her sister: Sharon McKibben of Thayer, KS; Her grandchildren: Patrick Dauber, Tia Bunch, Sara, Lynn & Becky Dauber, John, Kenny & Sherry Edgington; Her 10 great-grandchildren; and A host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Dauber; brothers Loren, Maurice and Wayne Asbury; and her best friend Audrey Nettrouer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Monday, February 9, 2009. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Betty's name for the Alzheimer's Research Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
