Claude Lewis Coffey, 83, Highway 196, Jabez, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 1st, 2003 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born April 10th, 1920 in Eadsville, Kentucky, a son of the late Dewey Coffey and Neva Twyford Coffey. He was a United States Army World War II Veteran, farmer, a member of Sievers Masonic Lodge# 491, Nancy, Kentucky, a member in Sunday school teacher at Jabez Christian Home Separate Baptist Church.

He is survived by three sons; Dewey Scott (and Katie) Coffey, Jabez, Kentucky, Dan (and Gloria), Somerset, Kentucky and Steve (and Brenda) Coffey, Jabez, Kentucky: two daughters; Sybil Perkins (and Barney) Barnes and Peggy (and Claude) Tiller, both of Somerset, Kentucky: 11 grandchildren; Will (and Michelle) Perkins, Becky (and Brian) Abbott, Marcie (and Doug) Littrell, Danny (and Jeni) Coffey, Matthew (and Julie) Coffey, Benji (and Aimee) Coffey, Robert Coffey, Pamela Coffey, Ashley Coffey and Will Edens:5 great-grandchildren; Josh Coffey, Seth Abbott, Brianna Coffey, Brynden Perkins and Joseph Coffey:1 sister; Mazie Coffey.

He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife; Alice Eller Coffey, whom he married on September 29th, 1946 in Monticello, Kentucky: two sisters; Ada Gosser and Florence Winfrey: 2 brothers; Fred and Howard Coffey.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., October 4th, 2003 at the Jabez Christian Home Separate Baptist Church with Brother Ellis Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Morrow's Chapel Cemetery, Jabez, Kentucky. Visitation will be after 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 3rd, 2003 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4th, 2003 at the church. Masonic rites will be held at 6:30 p.m. by the Sievers Lodge No. 491. Military honors will be given by American Legion Post No. 38 Honor Guard.
