Mrs. Brown was born Rose Belle Ewers, on December 15, 1899 near the township of Raven, Colorado in the Divide Creek area. She was the daughter of James Livermore and Rosa Belle Cozod Ewers. She spent her early childhood in the Divide Creek community and attended the Fairview Rural School and graduated from Rifle High School. She married Charles Lacy Brown on December 25, 1917 at the Divide Creek ranch home of her parents. They were associated with his patents in the cattle ranching profession on Rifle Creek. In 1928 they moved to Piceance Creek where they were engaged in cattle ranching until 1950 when they moved to White River. In 1953 they moved into Rifle Creek where has since made her home. Mr. Brown passed away in Rifle on March 8, 1970. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Frank Ewers and four sisters, Eunice Rule, Laura Larman, Nellie Meirs and Ella Jacobs. Survivors include two nephews and three nieces
