She married Herman Lawin when she was 39 and he was 37. No children.

Obituary from the "Pioneer" of Iron River, Wisconsin dated 24 Oct 1985:
Elsie (Bergan) Lawin, 69, Cornucopia, died Wednesday, Oct. 16 [1985], at Northern Lights Manor Nursing Home in Washburn. She was born July 23, 1916 in Lude, Minn., the daughter of Martin and June Bergan. On July 23, 1955, she was married in Bayfield to Herman Lawin. He died Sept. 21, 1974. Mrs. Lawin was a member of Immanuel Luthern Church, Cornucopia. She was a teacher for three years and an occupational therapist at Pure Air Sanatorium for nine years. She was also the postmaster at Cornucopia for five years prior to her retirement in 1980.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. George (Ellen) Washburn, Greely, Colo.; two brothers, Glen Bergan, Williams, Minn. and Dale Bergan, Longmont, Colo; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Mrs. Elsie (Bergan) Lawin, 69, Cornucopia, who died October 16 at Northern Lights Manor Nursing Home, Washburn, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cornucopia.
The Rev. Peter Gunderson will officiate. Burial of cremains will be in the Town of Bell Cemetery.
Mrs. Lawin was the widow of the late Herman Lawin, who died September 21, 1974. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cornucopia, and taught school for three years and was an occupational therapist at the Pure Air Sanatorium for nine years. She was also postmaster at Cornucopia for five years until her retirement in 1980.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. George (Ellen) Washburn, Greeley, Colorado; and two brothers, Glen, Williams, Minn.; and Dale, Longmont, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.
The Bratley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
