Cluff Sims McCluney was a son of James Wesley McCluney and Amanda Rhodes. He married Minnie Rish about 1896 in Mississippi. Four children were born to this couple. After Minnie's death in 1915, Cluff married Laura Josephine Chapman.
Four children were born of this union also.

Services for Cluff Sims McCluney, 83-year-old lifelong resident of Chickasaw county, who died at his home on Houston, Route 3, Saturday evening about 10 o'clock, were conducted from Rhodes Chapel Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. James Buskiry officiating, assisted by the Rev. J E Rogers, the Rev. I E Johnson, the Rev. Shumaker and the Rev. J Rogers. Burial was in the Rhodes Chapel Cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Tom Scarbrough, John Griffin, Morris Alford, Avery Dendy, Marvin Wooten, and Clifton Naron. All active pallbearers were member of his Sunday School class. Honorary pallbearers were: T O Lester, G W Bishop, Oscar Bishop, D E Griffin, R A Stewart, J B Adams, J B Mooneyham, D L Harden, J E Early, H H Harden, J W Harrelson, S T Hawkins, Lee Parker, H W Murphree, J C Houser, H G Rean, O B McGee, B McGuire, Elmer Malone, Martin Cook, Sam Harrington and Chess Harrington. All honorary pallbearers are members of the old harp singing convention. Mr. McCluney had been seriously ill for three days. A retired farmer, he was the son of the late Jim McCluney of South Carolina, and Mrs. Amanda Rhodes McCluney of Chickasaw county. He was born May 22, 1872. His wife was the late Mrs. Laura Chapman McCluney. He leaves two sons, Denton S McCluney of Milwaukee, Wis., and C S McCluney, Jr., of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Martin Cook of Houston and Mrs. E J Toma of Memphis, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Crawford of Keens, Texas. Nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
