Amanda is the daughter of Curtis and Mary (Musselman) Young and she is the 4th of 7 children. She married John Brua(1829/PA-1896/PA) in 1854 and they are the parents of ten children including Robert Brua(1873/PA-1976/WA). Obit 6-23-1906
Amanda Young, born Dec. 24, 1834, the daughter of Curtis and Mary (Musselman) Young, died June 22, 1908. She was born in Scotch Valley. She married John Brua of Frankstown Township, and died at the Brua homestead. She was survived by the following chidren: Clara, wife of R. A. Eliott ; Lillian, wife of James Young; and Archbald Bura, all of Hollidaysburg, PA.; Nannie, wife of John Clare; Elizabeth, wife of Russell Kendell; and Robert, all of Altoona, PA.; Elmer of Scotch Valley and John and Mary at home in Frankstown Township.

The homestead Overbrook, in Frankstown Township, is on the curve in the road gone to the sandbanks and Lock Mt. and is marked be the existing stone entrance "The Orchard 1912". Only the foundation and spring remain in 2005.
