William Lafayette Alexander's father died when he was five years old and his mother died when he was 11 years old.

His grandmother, Eliza Maria Karnes Smith took care of him and his two sisters until his grandmother and his sister, Bettie died of food poisoning after an outdoor party.

William went into the military service.

He moved to California and died in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California.

The family thought that "Uncle Willy" never did marry, but I found a marriage record for him in California to an Eva Beard Summers which had the correct name for his parents. He is also in the 1930 and 1940 census records with her in Los Angeles County, California.

Thank you Chris Mills (#46897617) for finding the cemetery where he was buried.
