Obituary of John Mason Gilbert.
John Mason Gilbert was born in Kentucky, October 20, 1852, and came to Kansas with his parents about 1873. The Gilbert family settled on a farm near Oxbow bend and remained there a number of years. They then moved to a farm near Buxton, known as the Luvall place where he remained until after his marriage. In the spring of 1894 he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Clary and the two moved in the fall of 1895 to their present location, two and a half miles north of Busby.
Last January Mr. Gilbert was sent to the hospital at Osawatomie for medical treatment where he stayed until the time of his death. He died September 21, 1919, at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 1 day.
Mr. Gilbert united with the Christian church in the year 1879 and was a strong believer in Christ until the end. He leaves behind a wife and five children, in addition to friends and relatives to mourn his death.
