Sara Luise Culbertson, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009.

She was a homemaker, wife, and mother of five. Originally from Pewee Valley, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Anna Mae Meisner.

After graduating from Ursaline College, Sara Luise moved to the Washington D.C. area. After World War II she worked at the Pentagon. She later joined her husband in the family real estate business. She was a singer, artist, antique expert of 18th and 19th century English and early American, and a passion for flower arranging. She was an accredited and sought-after flower show judge throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

For years she prepared elaborate flower arrangements for monthly receptions at The Hospitality International Service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacey Zehnder Culbertson.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Griffith Culbertson; a daughter, Anne (Martin) Wennerstrom; three sons, John Griffith Culbertson, Gregory Meisner Culbertson, both of Alexandria, Va., and Dreux Liebert (Frankie) Culbertson of Pewee Valley; four grandchildren; and a brother, Edwin A. Meisner of Louisville.

A Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Pewee Valley.
