Army Sgt Dorsey was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. He died in Kamaliyah in a non-combat related incident. Fellow soldiers found him unresponsive and attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful (under investigation). James graduated from Beardstown High School in 2003 and in April 2004, he joined the Army as an infantryman. His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with bronze service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantryman Badge. James enjoyed listening to music, playing the guitar and fishing.
