Lt. U. S. Army. He was the son of Maud Ervay Fagin and grandson of former Dallas mayor, Henry S Ervay. He was originally named Ervay Bronaugh Fagin. He was adopted by his grandparents, Henry S. and Maria L. Ervay. A death notice appears in El Paso Herald, 05 Nov 1918, Tue, Page 2.

His biological parents were Maude McCoy Ervay and Harry Lynne Fagin. His parents were divorced in 19 March 1897 in El Paso County, Colorado.
Ervay B. Ervay married Alice Florence Boxx, daughter of Dennis Boxx and Mary C Flannery, on 6 January 1914 in Boston, Massachusetts.
He attended Virginia Military Institute in 1915. He was in the Class of 1916 at M.I.T.
