Matthew Robert Scott "Uncle Matt", 59, passed away on Friday February 6, 2009. He was born in Harrison County, Mississippi and has lived in Jacksonville for the past 10 years. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He also served as a merchant seaman for 20 years. Mr. Scott enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He also loved winning at Texas Hold'em. He is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Scott. Survivors include his son, Elliott (Christy) Scott of Decatur, GA; brother, John (Fran) Scott of Hawaii; Sarah Toland of Seattle, WA, Catherine Scott of Hawaii, Mary Scott of Alexandra, VA, and Patricia (Tom) Terry of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Noah and Mia Scott; good friends Tommy and Paula Desko of Jacksonville. Funeral services with military honors will be held at the graveside on Wednesday February 11, at 11:30 am in Jacksonville National Cemetery with Father Jose Kulathinal officiating.
