Robert Peel Simmons

Robert Peel, son of Francis and Sarah Anne Simmons was born January 22, 1872 at Lawrence Kansas and departed this life suddenly April 28, 1948 at Eureka Kansas at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 6 days.

Mr. Simmons grew- to young manhood in Douglas and Franklin Counties, attending school at Lawrence. Kansas.

He was united in marriage at Topeka Kansas to Mabel May Eddy of Topeka, May 14, 1903. To this union six children were born: Eddy Simmons of Hutchinson, Mrs. Neva McLean of Piedmont, Joe Simmons of Piedmont, Russell Simmons of Severy, Mrs. Helen Seimears of Piedmont and Mrs. Catherine Barrier of Eureka.

Mr. Simmons moved his family to the farm home 5 miles southwest of Severy 39 years. He was still farming this farm at the time of his death.

He was always interested in his farm home and community affairs. He was a breeder and fancier of Hereford cattle for the past 55 years.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his faithful wife on December 28, 1939. Also three grandsons preceded him in death.

He was the last surviving member of his family.

Mr. Simmons leaves to mourn his passing six children, three sons and three daughters, 21. grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Simmons was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was happiest when serving others. After the passing of his wife, he got his joy from his grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew him.
Funeral, service was held Saturday afternoon, May 1, at the Severy Methodist Church.
