Obituary. .-Miss Susan Elizabeth Oglesby was born in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, March 22, 1853. She died at her home near Monmouth, Kansas, April 13, 1919, at the age of 66 years and 21 days. In 1871, she was married to William Huffer. To them were born three children: Orth, who died in infancy; Charlie, who died In 1905, and Grace (Mrs. Grace Huffer Marchbanks) who lives in Kuna, Idaho. The husband died in 1875. On August 15, 1186 (sic 1886), she was married to Henry Shideler. By this marriage, she became the adopted mother of four young children, Harry W., Dora E. (Mrs. H. F. Painter), Daniel W. and John W. Shideler, all of whom now live in Crawford county. To Mr. and Mrs. Shideler were born a son, Floyd I, now in the 89th Division in Germany, and a daughter, Goldie May, who is at home. All the living children, except Floyd were with her during her last days. She was a devout Christian, having been a member of the Brethren church for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her life was one of service and sacrifice, an inspiration and a model for her eight children and twenty- five grandchildren, in all of whom she has ever taken a keen, motherly interest. She has gone to her reward, but she will ever be remembered here for what she has done.
