Harold W. "Bud" Chapman, better known to his friends as Hubcaps, was the son of the late Clarence and Laudie Garner Chapman, was born in Hunterville on April 16, 1933, and died at his home in Essex, on Thursday, August 26, 2004, at the age of 71.

He had lived in Essex the past 49 years. He was a graduate of Vanduser High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was co-owner of Chapman and Vaughn Fabricating and Steel Supply Co. in Dexter and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

On April 16, 1955, he married to Joyce Griffin at the Olive Branch Church near Essex.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Chapman of Essex; one son, Harold Chapman of Columbia; two daughters, Carla Taylor of Sikeston and Christy Dorton of Dexter; two sisters, Connie Reece and Mary Stalcup, both of Sikeston; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2004, at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2004, in the Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jimmie Trotter of Sikeston officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins and Sons Service of Dexter in charge of the arrangements.
