DEATH CLAIMS OLD VETERAN
Marshall Makemson, well-known Civil War veteran and farmer near Morris Chapel for over fifty years, passed away in North Webster, his death following an attack of pneumonia nine days previously. His death, which occurred his eighty-third year, removes from our midst one of our substantial citizens of the county and a man with a very wide acquaintance throughout Kosciusko. For over half a century he owned and operated his large farm at Morris Chapel and was known among the farmers as one of the largest and best corn growers in this county.

As a young man, Marshall Makemson answered the call shortly following the outbreak of the Civil War. he was a member of the seventy-fourth Indiana Volunteers and participated in a lot of its battles during the war period. he is survived by his widow, Sarah A Makemson; two daughters by his former marriage, Mrs Rena Goble of Warsaw, and Mrs Ora Wright of Morris Chapel; a son, Walter Makemson, of Pittsburgh who arrived at his father's bedside before he passed away. The funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 o'clock p.m. in the North Webster M.E. Church. Rev Clear, of Elkhart will conduct the service assisted by Rev Singer and Rev Daily.
