LAMAR - James Herbert Carr, 54, 367 S. Highway KK, died at 11:45 AM Wednesday at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Carr was born March 6, 1941 in Lamar. He returned to Lamar seven months ago from El Paso, Texas. He was a 1959 graduate of Carthage High School. He received a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering and a master's degree in business, both from the University of Kansas. He had owned and operated James H. Carr Architects in El Paso. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, east of Jasper.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Carr, of the home; and three brothers, Scott Carr, Shawnee, Kans; Jon Carr, Carthage and Bob Carr, Joplin, route 1.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at Weng Funeral, Jasper. The Rev. Drew Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery, Lamar. Pallbearers will be Gene Selvey, Keith Selvey, Bob Selvey, Ron Selvey and Carl Selvey. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Friday at the funeral chapel. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.
