William James Everett is the son of Peter Evert and Lynney (Linney)Armstrong, born 14 Jun 1849 in Three Rivers, Saint Joseph County, Michigan, USA. William James has a sister Elizabeth Evert Gage Nokes and a brother Hiram Everet. Both sons were volunteers in the Civil War. William James Evert enlisted in the 11th Regiment, COMPANY B of the Michigan Infantry (2nd organization) the regiment was organized at Jackson, Michigan, January 4 to February 26, 1865. the 11th was mustered out September 16, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. William in his brother's regiment served seven month and was sent home the war being over.

Hiram enlisted into company E of the Eleventh Michigan Infantry on August 24, 1861. The 11th Regiment, Michigan Infantry was organized at White Pigeon, Michigan. It mustered in September 24, 1861. Hiram's enlistment was for three years, but a year and four months later he was dead on the battlefield. Hiram died at the age of 18, killed in action at Stones River Tennessee on Dec. 31, 1862.

The family name is Everet on his parent's marriage records, and Everett in the 1850 U S Census, and Evert in 1860 Census, and Evert on Father's death record.

William James Evert married Cyntia Louisa Addington, 23 Mar 1882, Norton, Muskegon County, Michigan, Cynthia Louisa died in Colorado in 1920.
