SOUTH FORK, Feb. 15- Mrs. Elizabeth (Burkhart) Paul, widow of Joseph S. Paul, former Burgess and later postmaster of this place, died at her residence on Railroad street here at noon yesterday, aged (*90) years and 21 days. Mrs. Paul's health had been impaired since January 1. Her death was due to a complication of diseases, resulting from an attack of pneumonia. Funeral services will be held in the local Evangelical Church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, the body to be taken from the Paul home to the church at 2 o'clock. The services will be conducted by the pastor of the church, the Rev. J. C. Wygant, and the Rev. F. W. Ware, of Ferndale, a former pastor of the church here. The Rev. Dr. Norman C. Milliron, of Pittsburg, another former local pastor, in (sic) expected to take part in the services. Mrs. Paul, who was born January 24, 1839, was a granddaughter of Joseph Burkhart, an immigrant from Germany, who settled in Bedford County, Pa., where Joseph Burkhart, her father, was born in (*1806). The latter came across the mountain and with Esther Goughenear Burkhart, his wife, settled in Jackson Township, Cambria County, where 18 children were born, of whom Mrs. Paul was the seventh. Miss Elizabeth Burkhart and Joseph S. Paul were married April 11, 1861, by Bishop Solomon Benshoff, of the Dunkard faith. To this union were born seven sons and three daughters as follows: George Austin, Elmer E., Harrison L., John M., Dr. Joseph L. Paul, all deceased.; Dr. Charles E., at home, Earl C. Paul, of Detroit; Jennie C., wife of Rev. J. H. Booser, also of South Fork; Anna, wife of E. W. Border, of Cresson, and Clara, wife of August Soupart, of Patton. Besides these, Mrs. Paul is survived by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a brother, David Burkhart, of Jackson Township, Cambria County, and one sister, Jennie Morrell, of Rapid City, S. D. Mrs. Paul was converted and baptized in the South Fork River, here. She was received into the Evangelical Church of South Fork about 1874 as a charter member. She was a faithful and devoted wife, an affectionate and loving mother, a devout Christian, the oldest resident of South Fork, and loved and respected by all who knew her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth (Burkhart) Paul, widow of Joseph S. Paul, who passed away Thursday at her home in South Fork, were held Monday afternoon, the body having been taken from the Paul residence to the Evangelical church. The Rev. J. C. Wygant, pastor of the church, and the Rev. E. W. Ware, pastor of the Ferndale Evangelical Church, had charge of the service. Interment was in the South Fork Cemetery. Messrs. Harry Burkhart, of Nantyglo; Lester Larimer, of Ebensburg; S. L. Byers, of Conemaugh; Timothy Kerr, of Munday's Corner; and Harry David and David Hite Rorabaugh, of South Fork, served as pall bearers.
