Albert M. Gladfelter, Jr., 77, formerly of Manchester, died February 11, 2009, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Joyce (Heiner) Gladfelter, whom he married 32 years ago on May 21, 1976.

Albert was born December 13, 1931, in Manchester. He was the son of the late Albert, Sr., and Sylvia (Kroft) Gladfelter.

He worked as a truck driver for over 30 years before retiring in 1993 from Reliance Drilling, R. J. Trucking, and Wells Brothers. Albert proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Gladfelter was a life member of Shiloh Legion Post 791; West York V.F.W. Post 8951; Rooster; 13th Ward Democratic Club; B.D. Club; South End; Viking Club; Prince Athletic Association; and Hawks Gunning Club.

In addition to his wife, Joyce, Albert is survived by one son, Albert Gladfelter, III of York; four stepsons, Donald Smith and wife, Mary Jane of Dover, Michael Smith and wife, Linda of Dover, Barry Smith and companion, Sue Seiple of York, and Timothy Smith and companion, Tammy Hedrick of York; one daughter, Shirley DiRuscio and husband, Nick of Barto, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Wendy Holder and husband, David of Mount Wolf, and Diane Autry and husband, Ed of Lakewood, Colo.; one grandchild; 12 stepgrandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Faye Decker and husband, Gene of Dover, and Teresa Grable of Mount Wolf.

Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery, Manchester. York County Veterans Honor Guard will perform full military honors at the graveside.
