Civil War Veteran. From the "History of Hollis" page 147. He was the only son of Israel and Olive (Bradbury) Warren. He attended the academy at Limerick and Maine State Academy at Lewiston. He entered Bowdoin College in 1862. That year he enlisted at Hollis in Company C, 27th Maine Regiment. He was commissioned Lieutenant on the forming of the Company. He returned to Hollis in 1862, then commissioned Captain.
Captain Warren went into trade, general merchandise, at Bar Mills for two years. Then he removed to the Captain Came farm at West Buxton. This fine estate was placed under his management.
On Dec.13, 1865, Mr. Warren married Margaret A, daughter of Captain Abram L. Came of Buxton who was born on the farm where his daughter made her home and which she inherited. Mr. and Mrs. Warren were the parents of two children, John C and Albert. F.
Joseph Warren was a selectman of Hollis for two years, a member of State Legislature, both branches, and Representattive and Senator. He was a man of broad culture and advanced ideas.
