Nov. 27, 1911 - Feb. 12, 2009
BREMEN - Paul A. Cripe, 97, passed away Thursday, February 12,
2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. He was born on November
27, 1911, in Goshen, to the late Rev. Charles and Amanda (Pletcher)
Cripe. On November 22, 1936 he married Mary Alice Young who
preceded him in death along with a son, Thomas Cripe. Mr. Cripe was a
lifelong Bremen resident until recently. He was a chemist for Uniroyal.
He graduated from Bremen High School in 1929, graduated from
Manchester College and completed his post-graduate work at Notre Dame. He was a
lifelong member of Bremen Church of the Brethren, member of Bremen Kiwanis, led
the senior citizen choir at The Pines, member South Bend-Mishawka Valliers for 23
years, performed with several gospel quartets, and loved fishing. He is survived by a
son, Donald (Carol) Cripe of Bremen; daughter, Marylin Haines of Indianapolis;
grandson, Thomas Cripe II of Plymouth and granddaughter, Teresa (Tony) Cox of
Tippecanoe, both whom he raised as his children; nine grandchildren, 15 great-
grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday,
February 15, 2009, in Bremen Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Jack Kline officiating .
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services on Sunday in the church. Burial will
be at South Union Cemetery, Nappanee. Memorials may be made to Bremen Church of
the Brethren. The Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, is assisting the family with
