Dr. Hall was born in Alabama either on May 15, 1838 or on May 5, 1840. His tombstone gives one date and his published obituary another. At a young age he moved with his parents to Marshall County, Mississippi, then to Tennessee for a while, before making his home in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. In 1861, he enlisted in Company H of the 17th Louisiana Infantry Regiment, and saw action in the battle of Shiloh, then in the battle of Vicksburg. He was captured when Vicksburg fell July 4, 1863 and was held as a POW for a while. He was paroled and then spend the reminder of the war in the Trans-Mississippi Army of the Confederacy. After the war he moved to Texas and made his home first in Washington County, Texas then Ft. Worth, Texas where he lived until his death in 1911. After coming to Texas he read and practiced Medicine and became an accomplished doctor. He was an active member of the United Confederate Veterans organization and held the office of Surgeon to the Robert E Lee Chapter in Ft. Worth until his death. He was married to Ella Grace Houston who survived him at death.
