Ella Grace Houston was born in Florida, February 7, 1858, the daughter of Isaac Thomas Houston born in North Carolina, and Lucy Ann Crosby born in Georgia. As an infant she moved with her family to Grimes County, Texas where her father was a cotton planter. After the war, the family moved to Bryan in Brazos County, Texas where her father was a Minister. The family moved to Ft. Worth, Texas by 1880. She married Dr. Eugene Theodore Hall in about 1885. They lived in Johnson County and Tarrant County until her husband died in 1911. After the death of her husband she lived with her daughter and her family in Houston Texas until she passed away in 1947.
