Homer Akers, 85, of Delray Beach, FL. passed away Thursday January 24, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

He was born December 30, 1916 in Onedia, KY. a son of the late Joshua Akers and Ivory (Laxton) Akers. He was an Engineer, a Broadcaster and Co-Founder of WTHL & WWOG Christian Radio.

He is survived by three nephews, Glen (and Betty) Akers, Ferndale, MI., Herb Akers, Sterling Heights, MI. and Fred (and Burnis) Griffith, Jasper, MI.; five nieces, Shirley Reasey, Warren, MI, Dorothy Morris, Cape Coral, FL., Janice Cutler, Memphis, TN., Anita (and Donald) Prince, Fraser, MI. and Cheryl (and Michael) Kennedy, Warren, MI.; one sister-in-law, Edna Akers, Warren, MI.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters, Clara, Arlie, Emmet and Stella.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday January 28, 2002 at Somerset Baptist Temple, with Brother David Carr, Brother Randy Tompkins, Brother Bob Mullins and Brother Randy Wiles officiating. Burial will be in Boca Raton Cemetery in Boca Raton FL. Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Sunday January 27, 2002 at Somerset Baptist Temple.
