ABSHER, Alta Marie, 81, Old Mayfield School Road, Eubank, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2007, at her home. She was born in Campground community of Pulaski County on April 23, 1926, to the late Henry and Effie Hines Smith. She enjoyed attending church services, going to gospel singings, family gatherings, friends and sewing. She worked as a cake decorator and she was a wonderful homemaker. Mrs. Absher was a 1943 graduate of Eubank High School.She is survived by her husband, M. Kay Absher, whom she married on July 23, 1951, in Somerset; two sons, Marce K. (and Lisa) Absher, Somerset, and Jeff Absher, Eubank; a daughter, Kim Absher, Eubank; three brothers, Pete Smith, Lakeland, Fla., Gene (and Jeannie) Smith, Piquia, Ohio, and Robert Smith, Piquia, Ohio; six sisters, Ellen Comer, Somerset, Shirley Stone, Cincinnati, Ohio, Mae Goode, Maxine Wooten and Wanda (and Bob) Westmorland, Karolyn (and Johnny) Sheperd, all of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren, Chris (and Kristina) Absher, Jordan (and Ashley) Absher, Zachary Absher and Chandler Absher; a great-grandson, Tyson Kristian Absher; nieces, nephews, great-neices and nephews; an honoary granddaughter, Heather Stamper Wilson; and many friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Andy Smith and Hardin Smith, and a sister, Iva Jasper. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, in the memory chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pulaski Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gideon Bible Memorial Plan.
