MR. W.W. DAVIS

VETERAN CITIZEN PASSES AWAY HERE AFTER AN ILLNESS OF SEVERAL MONTHS

After an illness of several months, at times recently in a critical condition for days at a time, Mr. W.W. Davis, aged eighty-five years, passed away yesterday afternoon at the home of his son on Hiawassee avenue, this city. The funerl will be conducted and the interment will take place at Center, with Rev. Willie M. Saye officiating, the time to be announced tomorrow morning, and flowers may be sent care of Bernstein Brothers.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife and by the following daughters and sons: Mr. J.H. Davis of Nicholson, Mr. W.M. Davis of Nicholson, Mr. W.H. Davis of Greenville, S.C., Mr. J.R. Davis of Athens, Mr. P.M.B.Y. Davis of Athens, Mrs. S.B. Hawkes, of Athens, and R.M. Davis of Athens. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.
Mr. Davis was well known in all this section of the state -- a good citizen, a God-fearing man, clean and honest and honorable in all the transcations of life. He leaves, besides the large circle of descendants and relatives, a host of friends to mourn his departure.

FUNERAL MR. W.W. DAVIS AT NICHOLSON

WILL BE CONDUCTED AT 3 THIS AFTERNOON BY THE REV. W.M. SAYE OF ATHENS

The funeral of Mr. W.W. Davis, whose death, as chronicled in the Banner of yesterday, ocurred Friday afternoon at the home of a son on Hiawasee avenue, this city, will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Nicholson, Ga., by Rev Willie M. Saye of this city, assisted by Rev. Mr. Lovern, the Nicholson pastor of the West End Baptist church of this city. Mr. Saye conducted the funeral of Mr. Davis' first and second wife - the deceased having been married thrice.
The six sons of the veteran deceased citizen will act as the pallbearers: Messrs. J.H. Davis and W.M. Davis of Nicholson, the old home, Wade Hampton Davis of Greenville, S.C., J.R. Davis, P.M.B. Young Davis and R.M. Davis of this city.
The funeral party will leave the Hiawassee avenue residence this afternoon in autos at 1:30 o'clock to arrive at Nicholson where the old family cemetery is situated at 3 o'clock.
Had Mr. Davis lived till Christmas day, a month from yesterday, he would have been exactly eighty-six years of age.
