He retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways, was a former water well driller and faithfully attended Doctors Creek Community Church.
Mr. Dye was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; brothers, Bill, Ray, and Hobert Dye; and sisters, Madeline Strickland and Bethel Chandler.
He is survived by his son, Tom Dye of Clendenin; daughters, Sandy Huffman, Laura Bodkins, Brenda Young, Mary Shafer and Pamela Huffman, all of Clendenin; sisters, Merle Gandee, and Lola James; brother, Clyde Dye; grandchildren, Chuck Elmore, Bob Huffman, Melissa Carpenter, Brian Young, Jason Young and Shawn Huffman; great-grandchildren, Zachery Elmore, Monica Young, Dylan Carpenter and Grant, Monica and Evie Sue Young.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin, with the Rev. Keith Monday and Pastor Harold Hall officiating. Interment will be in Dye Cemetery, Clendenin.
