Walter W. Elliott Died Yesterday, after a Long Illness

Walter W. Eliot, for the last 12 years, a well-known and well respected resident Saratoga, passed away yesterday morning at seven o'clock at his home in Saratoga after an illness of four or five years. Deceased some years ago had a rather hard tussle with an attack of tick fever and since that time, his health had insidiously broken. This former illness, together with later complications, is believed to have been the primary cause of his death. He was but 52 years of age.

Walter Ward Elliott came to Saratoga in 1937 from Sturgis South Dakota. He took employment at the R. R. Crow and Co. sawmill in Saratoga and in 1938 moved his family here. Following his employment at the sawmill, he worked for a few years for the Union Pacific Railroad Co., serving as a tie inspector at Saratoga, Hanna, Laramie and Walden. Owing to his health, however, he was forced to quit work and had been employed but little during the past five years.

Mr. Elliott was a native of Illinois. He was born in Neoga, in that state, on September 21, 1898. Growing to manhood, he moved to North Dakota, where he owned and operated a ranch near Rhame for a number of years. He sold his ranch there in 1935, and spent the next two or three years looking for a possible new location.

He was married to Miss Sylvia Little in 1923. Mrs. Elliott's family had also migrated to North Dakota from Illinois. The couple were married at Baker, Montana, on February 25, 1923, and they returned to North Dakota to make their home. The couple became the parents of three children, two sons and a daughter, all of whom reside in Saratoga.

Besides, his widow, Mr. Elliott is survived by his two sons, Allen and Lloyd; his daughter, Mrs. Paul Hilliard; and two brothers, Lloyd Elliott of Dallas, Texas and Earl Elliott of San Diego, California. Both the brothers were in Saratoga, only a few days ago to visit Mr. Elliott.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, at the Saratoga Presbyterian Church. Reverend Robert J. Ware, will be in charge of the services, and the McKelvey Funeral Home of Rawlins is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Saratoga Cemetery.
