Born September 22, 1939, at Amherstdale, she was a daughter of the late Normal J. Toler, Sr. (1916-1995) and Minnie E. Goodman-Toler-Browning (1920-Deceased). Also preceding her in death was her step-father who reared her, Raymond Browning (1921-Deceased); one half-brother, Normal J. Toler Jr. (1959-2002); two infant brothers; two sisters, Carol Toler (Deceased) and Evon Toler (Deceased); infant half-brother, B.R. Toler (1961-1961) and half-sisters; her adopted brother, Dennis Joe Browning (Deceased); and a very special brother-in-law, Waldo F. Brown (Deceased).
Shirley was a retired manager formerly employed with G.C. Murphy and Company at Logan. She was of the Church of God faith. A caring person, Shirley loved to take care of elderly people. Devoted to her family, she was a special mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Those left cherish her memory include her daughter, Paula (James "Rick") Stacy of Christian, with whom she made her home; her companion of 53 years, Paul Mullins of Jesse; a special sister, Mary Brown of Cyclone; one brother, Larry Curtis (Sarah) Browning of Chicago, Ill.; one adopted sister, Shelia (Rev. Frank) Spears of Buckhannon; five half-sister, Teresa (Bucky) Mosley of Amherstdale, Lesley (Charlie) Walls and Angela Justice, both of Man, Stephanie (Bobby) Baldridge of Amherstdale and Gail (Danny) Hendrick of Clear Fork; one half-brother, Gary (Carmella) Toler of Man; four grand-daughters, Janice Nicole (Joseph) Osborne of Logan, Tia Michelle Hatfield of Jesse, Sheena Danielle (Stephen) Stacy of Logan, and La-Tasha Michaela (Jackson) Ellison of Accoville; two great-grandsons, Timothy Eugene Hamaker of Logan and Brody Michael Stacy of Logan; one great-granddaughter, Becca Danielle Stacy of Logan; one great-grandchild, Baby Ellison on the way and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, Willie Lilly of Christian.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 19, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Frank Spears officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny.
