Jack Abbey, of Springfield, formerly executive secretary to the late Gov. Louis L. Emmerson, died yesterday at his residence. He was 68 years old.
Mr. Abbey was born Aug. 24, 1886 in Biggsville, son of Frank E. and Ida Pence Abbey. His father was a state representative for 18 years.
Mr. Abbey after leaving state service was downstate representative of the Commonwealth Edison Co., and retired three years ago. His wife died Oct. 11, 1951.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert Joel White and one granddaughter.
Services at Thomas C. Smith's Sons funeral home and burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
